This year, for the first time, St Mary's is taking part in Read for My School. This is a national reading competition that promotes reading by challenging children to read as many books as possible across two months of the spring term. Throughout the competition there are prizes and awards to be won for schools and pupils taking part. Read for My School will run from 19 January to 20 March 2015 and is open to all children in primary school Years 3 to 6. This website includes an updated library of over 150 online books to choose from and all participants can access these freely throughout the competition. The books are organised in eight genre-categories and children are encouraged to aim to read at least one book in each category. Children may also choose to read any book of their choice offline. They are asked to log each book that they read in their account. An optional feature of Read for My School invites children to write a review of a selected book from the online library as an entry into a writing competition.

To take part follow the link http://www.readformyschool.co.uk/ and create an account using the classroom code: 736326
