St Andrew's and Smart Day

On Friday 29th November, St Mary's celebrated St Andrew's Day. The children in that house team gathered togther to find out more about St Andrew. They then had a fun filled day making Scottish flags, creating their own tartan, making models of the Loch Ness Monster and eating shortbread.
Whilst those children were doing these activities, the rest of the school took part in a Smart Day. This was to support our work on 'Growth Mindset' and reinforces the message that everyone is smart!
The children had selected workshops based on what they already felt smart at and an area they felt they could improve in. Throughout the day, the children attended 3 workshops based on 9 different ways of being smart - word, 2d/3d, number, practical, music, nature, body, people and self.
We then ended the day with a fabulous sharing celebration. It was a brilliant day and one we hope to repeat in the future.
