St. Mary’s Remembered …

posted 24 Nov 2014, 03:34 by Amanda Waind   [ updated 24 Nov 2014, 03:35 ]

St Mary’s remembered all those servicemen and women who lost their lives during the First World War and subsequent wars. Every child in schools made a poppy as part of our school tribute on this centenary year, stimulated by the spectacular art installation at the Tower of London, Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red. The beautiful  array of poppies has been made into a whole school display. Every class also spent time learning about Remembrance Day.

Mrs Waind would like to thank Year 6 for their stunning recitation of John McCrae’s famous poem In Flander’s Field and Charlotte from Year 4 who shared a beautiful poem she had written in our whole school assembly. Contributions of work from different classes have been added to our Remember display.  Well done everyone.
