World Book Day Celebrated in Style

This year for world book day we  focussed on stories to share. We asked each child to choose a book that they enjoyed reading, which they could share with their classmates. The children were challenged to read or perform the story to their class. They could decide to read the whole book, if it was short enough; read an excerpt; retell the story in their own words or something even more imaginative. The best 1 or 2 from each class was chosen to be shared as a display in the library or in the whole school assembly at the end of the day.

We had a fantastic day, the children really excelled themselves with their imaginative costumes and presentations. Our library is looking fantastic, filled with work. In upper KS2 1 author was very popular (Jacqueline Wilson) and this has prompted us to start a new initiative - 'Author of the Term'. Children have written reviews about Jacqueline Wilson books and these have been shown on a display above a selection of her books. Congratulations to Anna, Amelia, Tiana and Beattie for inspiring this idea
