Y3 Kelham Island Trip

posted 25 Feb 2016, 00:41 by Lynsie Tuplin
On Thursday 18th February the children in Y3 enjoyed a day at Kelham Island Museum to take part in a Steel City Investigation day to support our topic about the Industrial Revolution and the impact it had on Sheffield.  The children all had a fantastic time and participated in 3 workshops.  They listened to the story of Ironie and used theatre, props and puppetry to bring the story to life.  They listened to the story of the spoon which told them about the light trades of Sheffield; the children loved dressing up as buffer girls and grinders and followed the journey of a piece of iron to becoming a spoon.  The children also enjoyed exploring the museum and finding the different machines that played a part in the industrial revolution.  They particularly liked exploring the Melting Shop and learning about the Bessember Converter.  A great day was had by all and the children’s attitude and behaviour was a credit to the school.
