Y4 Roman Workshop

On Tuesday, Y4 had an amazing Roman Day, where we all dressed up as citizens, soldiers, gladiators and even emperors! We learn so much from our guide, Rufus about Roman life and the invasion of Britain. We got to hold genuine Roman artefacts that were over 2000 years old. We learned how to play 2 different Roman board games, and we enjoyed them so much, we have now started building our own class sets! After lunch we discovered why the Roman Army was so effective and Fin even got to try out the Roman armour before we were put through our paces in a roman drill. Finally we made our own amphitheatre and Rufus took us through a whole day at the Roman games where, after the priestesses had blessed the arena, we saw jugglers and acrobats, slaves being slaughtered by the Praetorian Guard, chariot racing and finally some epic gladiator battles. We had a fantastic day and it has really boosted our enthusiasm for the rest of our topic.
