On Monday 2nd February Year 4 visited Conisborough Castle to support their spring topic “Why were the Norman castles certainly not bouncy?” Despite the bitterly cold weather the children were enthusiastic and eager to explore the grounds of the castle. They took part in a workshop learning all about what a working castle would have been like, and the people who would have lived and worked there during Norman times. They were able to experience how it would have felt to be part of castle life – even experiencing some quite unpleasant smells! The children had a fantastic day out and have been busy in class recreating their own castles and characters.
