RE

RE at St Mary's is not a discrete, once a week lesson. It influences our whole approach to teaching, learning and pastoral care. As a proud Catholic school, our RE teaching takes place everyday in every interaction as we try to follow in Christ's footsteps.

Having said this, RE teaching does take place as a 'lesson' and is considered a core subject at our school. 10% of teaching time is allocated to RE and teaching follows the Come and See programme. RE is the study of:

  •  the mystery of God, as discovered through the Bible and particularly through the life and teachings of Jesus Christ
  • the teachings of the church
  • the lives of the saints
  • the relationship through faith and life.
Children explore topics through the overarching themes of Church, Sacraments and Christian living.
