Parish

At St Mary's, we are fortunate to be on the same site as St Mary's Church. Our Parish Priest is Father Callistus who is a regular visitor to school. Children attend and lead Mass around 6 times a year during key liturgical seasons. Sister Clare, in the parish, is also St Mary's CAFOD education leader and delivers regular CAFOD based assemblies in school. Deacon Bill is also a familiar figure to the children and supports the Catholic life of our school community. Children attend church to support their RE learning particularly about sacraments.

Our children are involved in the parish in the following ways:

  • altar serving and reading at Mass
  • displaying work at church
  • creating a termly newsletter for the parish
  • sharing information about events at Mass
  • speaking at Mass about school activities
  • performing at parish luncheon club
  • inviting the parish to school events
  • creating Christmas shoe boxes for the parish community
